Registration closes on October 17th for Portuguese language instruction in the Jorge de Sena School.  
Classes begin on November 3rd from 5:30 PM -7:30 PM. To receive registration information for Portuguese instruction for your

PORTUGUESE LANGUAGE CLASSES

Mondays
5:30 PM – 7 PM for children
Location: Our Lady of Assumption Parish Hall

Portuguese classes have existed at Our Lady of the Assumption Church since 1972 taught by many teachers from the Church community over the years.  After a summer Portuguese immersion program in 1987, the Jorge de Sena School was founded.  Since then, the school has offered expanded classes in the Portuguese language, history, songs, and dances of the Azores and Portugal.  Classes usually begin each October and end in April for grades kindergarten-six.  In January of each year, the children perform during the yearly fundraiser, the “matança.”  Parents and community members work extensively to provide an authentic Azorean “mantanca” experience with a traditional meal.
